I have to agree with most of the other reviews here. The first time we went it was AWESOME! I even sent corporate a tweet saying how good it was. Alas, some good things come to an end....and GC really shit the bed with service and quality of food. Last time there our "server" watched as our table of 4 piled plate after plate on top of each other. For the hell of it I wanted to see how high of a tower I could build before someone said to stop. Not a word was spoken and I was able to stack 6 plates between 6 glasses without a problem. We left, pissed off and I won't be going back.

GHETTTTTTOOOOOOOOOO.... Knowing how important these yelp reviews are to some restaurants, I still give it one star... and that's because I had to. We had a party of eight. We weren't given a table. After putting 2 tables together OURSELVES we were told we couldn't do that... due to fire safety... or some made up excuse our waitress came up with. Truth is she was lazy and didn't wanna wait on a group that big. After calling someone who claimed to be the manager we were told we could leave if we didn't like the seating arrangements. After seeing the real manager all he did was give us our money back. WE LEFT HUNGRY AND RUINED MY LITTLE BROTHER'S BIRTHDAY PLANS. Lost 8 customers because of a lazy staff. NEVER going back.

I was very disappointed in my experience this time around. Can't say that anything was really terrible, but it just wasn't as good as it has been in previous visits. And I still don't get why they charge separately for drinks.

Not Good! My little god daughter had us meet here for dinner after her graduation. If you have a lot of kids or teens this is the spot for you. However, if you are a adult with no kids, don't waste your money or time. The food was not good AT ALL!!! I wasn't expecting prime rib or anything fancy, just hot and well seasoned food. I enjoyed spending time with my god kids, but I will not return to this restaurant.

This place is a slum. It was filthy and they are completely understaffed. No one was cleaning up by the food. Food was all over the front of the serving tables and trays, falling onto the floor. You have to get pop by squeezing thru the line of people getting in. Who ever thought of that set up? Carpets were filthy - and this place is new? Run, run anywhere but this dump.

In one word. DISGUSTING. I went on a Thursday night with 3 of my friends thinking it wouldn't be too crowded. Boy was I wrong. Kids running all around like it was chuckie cheese and we were squeezed in like sardines. Food was tasteless (if you could find any). The waitstaff was terrific though. Very attentive.

They should call this place Ghetto Corral... Never again. What a waste of money, time, and energy. We went to this buffet on a Sunday afternoon around 2:00 pm. The place was crowed by over the top rude patrons. There was not enough food for the hundreds of people eating there. Very dirty and dingy restaurant. No going back to this location ever again!

    (1)
  • Shareef Y.

Far too over crowded. They need to learn to have people wait. I'm sure every restaurant would sit anyone that arrives but they don't because they know that it serves no point to seat someone and not be able to serve them. To add to the greed, they move the tables so close together to fit even more people that anytime you need to get up the person behind you has to get up. Needless to say, I'm never coming back here again. As another poster stated. We might as well be cattle in this place!

OMG, this is the worst buffet that I have ever visited in my entire existence on Earth. The line was long on a Thursday evening and my friends and I had to wait for a table. The line was uncomfortable and hot since the majority of the folks weighed about 300 pounds so it was nowhere to move. We eventually got a tiny, small, cramped table that was pushed in the corner of the restaurant behind the waitress counter and kitchen. I'm a petite, but there was no room for me to move! Anyhow, I went to get a plate of food. Ugh the food was gross, bland, and it actually made my tummy ache. The trays of food were empty and the staff was slow to refill them. Little 5 year old kids were everywhere coughing on the food and serving themselves! Grossed me out! There was no silverware the caddy. I walked the entire restaurant looking for a clean fork! The waitresses did not help me to locate clean silverware. They stood around clueless. Piles and Piles of plates piled up on out table, but the waitress kept walking past and did not remove them. I had to literally grab her and ask her to take the plates away. So we sat at a tiny little table that was showered in plates, and the waitress would not remove them. UGH. I feel itchy and slimy writing about this place!!!!! Total gross out! So if you want some expensive, bland, bacteria infested, coughed on food, then the Golden Corral is the place for you!

If you're hungry and don't know exactly what you want to eat this is a good spot to eat from. I been with family and we always find something to our liking. It's not fine dining, but it does justice. I have been several times and haven't had an issue. The average American food.

    (3)
  • Tami O.

The plates were dirty at this location. If the plates they put in public aren't clean you can only imagine the cleanliness where the public can't see. The food was average and below. Not a lot of fresh options. I think most food comes pre-prepared. It's not satisfying to a person who prefers fresher options. Vowed to never go back.

I went to this Golden corral on January 3, 2015 they had a thing going where you buy two adult dinners and get free six free dinner rolls the take-home it had failed to tell you that they do not serve you dinner rolls you can have the free ones or you can take them home then they charge you $.25 for the honey butter if you want that to The price for lunch on weekends is out rages for two people it cost me $30 with drinks where I can go to Chinese buffet for lunch and feed five people are even more for that amount of money and and get just as good food the people in there are rude to the customers I will not go there again and I will not recommend it to anyone

The food here sucks! I went here when they first had their grand opening and I feel that they were in a rush to open. The food didn't have any flavor for example their corn bread. They didn't have much selection of fruits as I didn't imagine. I drive by this location most of the time and don't see its pack like it used to be. They had a hard time seating us because it was super crowded and they didn't even clean the table before seating us. I had talk about this place to others and their comment were very similar to mines. The food needs more work.

I wrote to them about my visit 1 mon. ago. They apologized. I went in asked if I was 4 people. I said 1 and I was placed in the corner by the bathroom. I never saw the server again. When I went up for dessert I came back and found a tray of eaten lobster in my chair. Good thing I saw it. I picked up the tray and a buss boy took pity on me. There also was no butter for my baked potato. They never filled it the whole time. I just ate and ducked out ASAP it was a mess.

Came back after a couple months to check in and see how the place is doing. I feel like it's gone downhill from the last time we came. The place is not too sanitary. Employees should make sure that parents are really watching their kids. For example, I saw a little girl picking at the cauliflower with her hands. The person with her just told her to stop. (um.... take those pieces and put it on your plate). Another incident was a little boy took the star cookie from the dessert bar. Before trying to cover it with white chocolate, he licked the entire cookie and then began to stick the cookie in the fondue fountain. I was just about to get some chocolate covered strawberries, but i decided to opt for the ice cream instead. The tables were also dirty. It just seems to be very unclean. I won't be coming back.

I felt like I was at cattle coral going to be slaughtered, waiting in line for ever just to sit down at a table. Good thing there wasn't a stampede because they would have a lot of casualties!! But then again eating there was a casualty all night and all day following.... This place is really bad with the so called food, the cleanliness of the food areas, the china and silverware it was disgusting.. Also I have noticed how YELP continues taking all of the negative reviews off of their rating to make look better than what it is.. They must pay a lot for advertising with YELP!!!!

Utter and sheer chaos came because it was wing night and I couldn't get to wings for an hour this place is so understaffed or under trained on how to keep up on wing night you run out of wings and cannot keep up poor execution on a crappy night only reason why it wasn't a 1 star because the food that I did have was decent....unfortunately for $12 a person and 3 a soda I will not be back

  • Christina P.

I hate buffets but this was a quick lunch on a day some places were closed because of the weather. It's $8.99 for lunch then another $2.19 for a drink. The majority of food was missing or not filled. The broccoli soup was never brought back out while I was there and the girl who asked for me got a rude reply from the manager who was there. He looked miserable. Don't waste you time or money. I'd rather eat McDonald's then go here again. Chocolate fountain wasn't working right either!

3 star review not bad, but always or in this case , it needs a lot of improvement. very crowed and lot's of children running around, some popular food not kept up when depleted. also fountain drinks do not need to be handled by a waiter/ server. if golden corral can trust adults and children to eat their food, why can't they self serve drinks. food complaints told to on duty manager: fresh cut teriyaki steak was way to raw and un_edible, I went with my brother and he had a serving as well, so 2 plateful's probably 8 oz of meat thrown in the garbage because of it being raw. I just hope the manager is able to convey this to corporate headquarters and let the manager run the place based on ' command decison' rather than rely on corporate eggheads a 1000 miles away. p.s. I live in ft Lauderdale florida, I was in Illinois visting my brother. also it felt like I was in a very large high school environment/ cafeteria.

The food was pretty good. However, the people working as "servers" did not want to work!! As the place became more and more crowded, the servers seemed to disappear. No refills on drinks and nobody removing the plates from any of the tables. I'll never understand why people take a job if they don't want to work and why the manager would see this and not fire people on the spot. We WON'T be returning to this one for sure!!

Went there for lunch Jan. 7 2014. Very crowded. About 12 ahead of me in line. Moved very fast. Drinks were $2.19 extra and the very small sign (in very small print) was not at all visible until you got past the drink machines which you had to pass by first, to get to the cashier. Great way to rip people off. (Lucky I asked first about the drink). The food was all good and very hot and fresh. I didn't expect it to be that good. Fried chicken very good. Just out of the fryer. I was surprised that there was no soup. They did have chili. Constant line to get in. When I left about 1:15, the line was almost out the door. The waitress I had asked me if I was ok several times during my visit. Also willing to refill my water glass. I would have given it 3 stars if they didn't try to rip you off with the drink. Lunch: $8.49 $7.99 senior ++$2.19 for drink No bargain for buffet food

  • Alex C.

Good selection of food and salad bar but they are slow to refill items. Some items are tasty others are not. Unless you are going to eat your weight in food, it is not worth the price. With drinks you'll spend close to $15.00 for dinner each adult. Add another $5.00 if you want a special dish such as lobster.

Did not even get in to sit. They do not know how to control a crowd. People were cutting line at will and the manager was claiming "if you clut in line, we will not serve you." Unfortunately, that manager was too busy on his phone to realize who the cutters were. He also informed us that it was a fire hazard that the door was constantly openx yet was too busy on his phone to do anything about it.

Food was fair, but sparse for breakfast. Very crowded right now (only open a few weeks). The wait staff on the floor is trying very hard. The staff behind the counter seem overwhelmed. Three stars for now, a lot of room for improvement. We will try again maybe in April/May when the newness factor wares off

The manager was very rude. He pushed past me when we asked to be sitted at a table instead of a booth. I asked for a refund and he told row his hands up and said "Well go somewhere else!" Will never come here again. I was very disappointed.

Good Lord, this was awful. When we arrived, nearly every table was messy and dirty. We finally found one that was clean enough for my husband and daughter and I to sit down. There is no ambiance to speak of - it feels like your friend's two uncles decided to open a lunch line in a church basement. Lights too bright, small plastic lunch plates, cop talking to manager. The staff does what they can, but you can see they're fighting a losing battle, and friendliness and helpfulness and cheerfulness were at a very low level. The food had some good choices - the pulled pork was very good, the bourbon chicken was a little dry but tasted good. Those were the only two foods I ate that had any taste at all. I mean AT ALL. It was actually weird how much the food tasted like nothing. The steak fillet, for instance, LOOKED like meat on the outside, but when I cut into my "medium rare" beef, the inside was red with a tiny ring of brown around the outside. Warm all the way through, but the texture looked a little like sawdust, and the only thing I tasted was the oil they used on the grill. It didn't even taste like bad meat, it just had no taste at all. The garlic cheese biscuits had been sitting out a while and were crispy around the edges, but even they only tasted like the grease they had been sitting in. The buttered noodles hadn't been refilled in a while, and those that were left in the pan had dried hard on the edges. The bread pudding tasted only like the powdered sugar glaze that was drizzled on it. The chocolate fountain, which seemed to be an unreasonably big deal to them, had only pineapple pieces and marshmallows which had hardened up. Even the chocolate ice cream was bland. It was as though aliens had researched food on television and then tried to re-create it without knowing it had to actually taste like anything. What should have been a good solution for a family dinner - a buffet means everybody gets what they wants, right? - turned into a night of "let's get out of here and never come back." Eat cardboard for dinner - it will have more taste.

Very crowed, very loud, I could not hear myself think. The parents allowed their kids to run around as if it were a play ground. Mashed potatoes n steak were good but that's about it! Desert was items that I can easily make. Disappointed they have no lava molten cake. Two thumbs down..

Okay we made the mistake of going here the Saturday after Valentine's day. Biggest mistake ever. The line was outside the door. We had to wait 5 minutes outside and an infinity to get to the front register once we got inside and a rude woman cut in front of us. After finally being seated and ordering our $3.99 lobster tail, I go to the almost empty looking buffet. They're people everywhere and kids touching the food. I end up ordering a tasteless medium cooked steak, created a fajita and got some fried shrimp. By the time I got back to my seat and ready to eat everything was lukewarm. I'll probably never return it wasn't worth the wait. P.S. by the time I got outside the line was now wrapped around the building. I wanted to shout go home its no worth standing in the cold!

Last night went for a ride with my son for dinner. After 30 minute drive saw location he stated he went to one in Florida. So I took his word and went inside. I should have known better! If you want to see the worst of humanity go to this location! Amazing how the staff can handle the patrons and their behavior. But after all you get your monies worth I guess thats more important then acting civilized . Food is average if you want to call it that.

  • B M.

Restaurant personnel came to the table and threatened a group of senior women with arrest for stealing. It is my opinion that one must leave the building with item(s) before the threat of arrest. We were still eating at the time which made no sense to me. The food was not good and the atmosphere was worse.

I gave one star because I couldn't post with zero.....This establishment was awful. The sad thing is the restaurant itself wasn't bad, but when basically a child abuse case was playing out in front of me in a screaming match the manager thought it was no big deal. Then even though the mother was looking to now start a physical fight the managers answer was just for me to move. Not one person could or would give me a corporate number. Also unfortunate that the two plain clothes officers did nothing. The saddest is what will happen to that little girl when she gets home?

  • Larry H.

Food is bland and restaurant was not clean. Some servers tried but food all over floor. Hostess or seaters were rude, place was loud and seating configuration is terrible. They were constantly running out of buffet items how do you run out of hot fudge? Never go back horrible experience felt dirty when I left. My wife so tried and on the third try got a clean plate.

I really enjoyed the service we received from our waitress. The food could use some seasoning, but there were also a lot of food that tasted GREAT! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because they charge $219 extra for drink which I was not told until I was ready to pay!

  • Krys W.

The staff is very rude and disrespectful, management team and owner take no action when you bring concerns. If you would like to be mistreated and wait all day to eat this is the place to go! We stood in line for 45-1hr for entry informed the staff that we would like to be seated with our group that was in a particular room and the staff would not honor our request even though there were multiple open tables. Once the concern was brought to the manager he walked away stating that he would look into it and never came back. Tried to speak with the owners who also waived our claim off. Eventually I went looking for the manager and pointed to the open tables near our group he then began to act like he was too busy to hear me. I eventually went and seated myself at the open table and the waiter at the table did not mind. Once we were finally seated I decided to go try to eat and searched through multiple bins to find a clean plate and fork to eat with (please check!). Eventually I found something clean enough to eat on I think. Once it was time for dessert I looked over about 20 bowls and could not find one without food and other things stuck to them I eventually gave up. So much for having a sundae. I left feeling as if this was one of the worst dinning experiences I have ever had and I do not plan to return and I hadn't eaten my monies worth. Very frustrating is all I can say, save yourself!

Chicken was over cook. Had to wait 20 minutes for french fries. But the most disturbing part of the visit was when the female bus person (the call servers) asked to sign my receipt, when I informed her it was in my pocket she just stood there at the end of the table. When I cleaned my hands I did hand it to her and the rest of my visit she had an attitude. I seen the manager and said if this is a policy then customers should be TOLD to leave there receipt ON THE TABLE to prevent a NAZI check point interview. Very uncomfortable and management did not seem bothered by my complaint. MAYBE MANAGEMENT OR THE OWNER SHOULD READ THESE YELP REVIEWS.

This place is the worst. Went In a few months ago and never got around to posting a review. The cashier told us to seat our selves so me and my family went to a empty table and a waitress comes running from across the restaurant to tell us we can't sit here. I told her the cashier said seat yourself and she said were going to be busy soon don't u wanna sit in a booth? I said no I wanna sit here then this large African American woman gets up and starts yelling at me that I can't sit there cuz she is saving the table even though there front door says you can't save tables. She then proceeded to tell me that I was not in Iraq and to go sit in the back of the restaurant. The manager refunded me my money and I left while the other woman stayed and the waitress was lying and shouting that she never said we couldn't sit there.you could not pay me to EVER go back here one of the WORST experiences of my life. I was extremely disappointed by the way the situation was handled.

  • Dianna X.

Had an AWFUL experience here. The food trays were mostly empty, and they were continuing to let people in. People were arguing over the last piece of chicken in the pan. Asked for a refund, the manager did not even ask why, just shoved my refund money at me. I even wrote a letter to corporate, over 2 weeks later still no response from them. Bad company, clearly couldn't care less about its patrons. Avoid this place at all costs.

This place should be shut down by the Cook County Board of Health. Absolutely filthy!!! Kids are sticking their fingers in the "fondue fountains," adults are grabbing cookies with their hands because there aren't any utensils out to grab them with, people pile their plates a foot high with food and are eating off their plate while they are standing by the buffet bar still grabbing food from the hot bar. People are like animals in there! I also saw people try to put stuff in their purse...Come on people, really, it's not cheap enough!!! I saw one elderly lady in there with her toddler grandson with a huge bowl full (looked like a pound) of Gummie Bears that she was trying to slip in her purse. The food is substandard at best. It was so filthy in there, I am actually surprised that I didn't get food poisoning/stomach flu. Weird vibe in there, it feels like you are being watched. Very, very ghetto. Save yourself a hassle, go to the Wendy's nearby, it's much, much cleaner and you won't have to deal with all this drama!

went there this evening for my daughters birthday dinner cuz she really wanted to go there. it was unorganized, crowded, the staff is rude, the main dishes were either empty or dry from sitting for awhile. took forever for them to clear plates from table. the very worst part was when I took my youngest to the restroom, an employee walked out of the stall, and DID NOT wash her hands! I will never step foot in that place again.

It was our first visit today. My husband had been curious and wanted to try it; I tended toward skepticism. I was pleasantly surprised. We went at noon on a Thursday, which apparently was a lucky time because we did not run into the crowds I saw complained about in other reviews. Also, since it was a school day, we did not see hordes of children handling or abusing the self-serve foods. The place seemed clean and well-stocked. I did have to stand and wait three minutes for the fried chicken, but other foods were replenished as they emptied. The salad bar had many offerings and toppings. We sampled their chili, fried chicken, and onion rings. They have "real" ice cream (a sherbert and three other flavors) that are scooped out for you at your request. The cons: the senior deal (which inludes a drink) does not start till 2 pm, too late for our lunch, as a rule. And the price of your meal does NOT otherwise include a drink! It would have cost us an extra $4.38 plus tax, if we wanted to drink soda instead of water with our meal.

If it was possible for 0 stars i would give it. This is the worst Golden Corral I've been too because the food is not good at all. I went here twice and both times I've had bad stomach cramps and felt nauseous after eating here. Not saying all Golden Corrals are horrible just this 1

I went to the location in Bolingbrook and had a perfectly acceptable experience, but this location is horrible. The floors were filthy, there were empty booths that had tables stacked with dishes when we walked in, that were not touched by the time we left. All of the chicken dishes were far too overcooked, I mean to the point that the chicken fajitas were a cross between jerky and pork rinds. Absolutely disgusting. The sauteed mushrooms were more like steamed mushrooms, overly moist and very undercooked. The same goes for the grilled peppers and onions, they were almost raw. The burgers were absolutely disgusting, fell apart on the bun, and tasted like some sort of horrible grilled meatloaf gone wrong. The plates to use for the buffet had little pieces of the previous user's food, as did the forks/spoons, but there were no utensils out there for several minutes, so I guess just clean it yourself and be happy. The plates on our table were sitting empty/dirty for about 7-10 minutes before they were removed, and my cup of water also sat empty for most of the meal. I don't know what else to say, other than this was one of the worst places I have ever eaten.

Not clean, food is not very good, kids running all over the place, pretty poor service. I've been to the one in joliet and it was a totally different experience. Good food, great service, clean. Will never go back to the one on 159th.

So my daughter was excited about going because of the chocolate fountain and I was interested in the steaks. At first sight was a child taking bites of his good and then dunking it into the fountain.. now at this point we paid $50 for a family of 4 and no employees watching this stuff happen. Then I went to get a steak and found the manager cleaning the grill with a screw driver. (Photo to show this) . Now as busy as they are, how can they not afford staff to monitor these things and buy proper utencils..... Not going back ever again. What should I have expected, they are part of Old Country Buffet and I found roaches in their Tinley establishment. (And I have a photo of that too)

I can tell you in two words why I can only give this restaurant the lowest rating of "one star"... JIM RIMAR! This is the manager of this Golden Corral. He has absolutely NO people skills whatsoever in dealing with the public. On a previous visit, an acquaintance that dined with me tried to tell this manager that he had a concern about the lady at the cashier. He approached my acquaintance in attempted-intimidation mode by glaring at him and shouting: MAY I HELP YOU??? While trying to express the complaint, the manager talked over the patron and tried to excuse his employees performance. He then abruptly ended any further discussion of the matter and stormed off. That was about six months ago... DURING THE MOST RECENT VISIT in early May 2015, I - and other patrons - had concerns about food not being out on the buffet and an employee behind the hot bar got extremely rude and defensive when simply asked when more of certain foods would be coming out. It turned into a verbal confrontation - started by her - and she summoned manager JIM RIMAR. Laughably, manager JIM RIMAR repeated his routine that my acquaintance experienced about six months ago... With nostrils flaring and eyes bulging, he leaned over the hot food bar and condescendingly yelled with his mouth wide open again - as he had done a half-year ago: MAY I HELP YOU??? Even though he asks this question, he obviously doesn't care what you want to say because he doesn't allow a patron to finish a sentence. He cuts people off and shouts over them, as he excuses his employees actions and behaviors. Incredibly, he tells you that "you" have the problem - even though he wasn't even there when the problem occurred! Bottom line: too many empty food trays, at least one Hispanic female employee behind the hot food bar is allowed by the manager to be rude when asked a question or asked to do something by patrons, and - worst of all - the rudest manager found anywhere is here, JIM RIMAR. Even though this is the newest Golden Corral in the Chicago area and is the one that is run by the corporation - and therefore should be the best one - it is the worst one around due to this incredibly, incredibly terrible management. It's understandable to see why this restaurant has a ONE-AND-ONE-HALF STAR average as of the posting of this review. Obviously, more people than just me (and my acquaintances who have gone here) have had miserable experiences of one type or another at this place. Suggestion: eat elsewhere until there's a change in management! Then, and only then, it might improve. (There's an Old Country Buffet less than a mile away, south of 159th on Harlem. Management there actually walks around sometimes to greet diners and ask how your meal is. There is no condescending "HOW MAY I HELP YOU?" shouting accompanied by the incredible disrespect for the customers from the managers over there.) UPDATE: I've written to Golden Corral's corporate office about JIM RIMAR and other problems with this restaurant TWICE and requested a response from the corporation. Neither writing got a response of any type. In other words, it appears Golden Corral doesn't care. Again, eat elsewhere.

Not as bad as everyone says. There are a lot of kids running around which is my main grievance, but we were all kids once. You can even say that the kids are well behaved. Imagine how hard it has to be for a kid not to stick his face and hands in the chocolate fountain? It's not dirty, I'm not sure why people say that. I came around 3 on a Monday, however, I assume it's bad on weekends. You can get a free beverage coupon by signing up to their e-club. Less than $10 gets you an incredible meal. I had two bacon, ham, and cheese omelettes, scrambled eggs, tons of bacon, sausage, french toast, pancakes, fried chicken, tacos, nachos, shrimp, baconator fries, steak, pizza, meatloaf, ribs, tons of fries, various sides, and a whole lot of dessert (corn ice cream, cake, cookies, sundaes, cones, banana pudding, root beer float, etc). That's a short list, I am not including everything that I had. Tally that up and who knows what the bill would come out to at other restaurants. How anyone complains is just insane to me. The steak alone would set you back over $10 at most places.
